Finally got my chick order finalized. 2 BlackCMs, 2 BlueCMs, 4 SS, and 4 CX pullets. Hopefully they will ALL be pullets!

What kind of wood is it mostly? Any good for burning? Do you have a fireplace?

Mostly pine trees fall down on their own. That's what crushed both of our vehicles last winter. We have a wood stove that does most of our heating for winter. Hubby burns hardwood in it.

So you can see why i am not fond of these pine trees!

ya, I dont understand why they get naked either. I just like the survival part. You know, like how men buy kaka magazines just to read the stories.

I could never last. The bugs biting. That is enough for me. Plus no food or water. You have to find your own.

Luckily, I have a closed flock. The only people who access my birds are my adult children and myself - and none of us have access to any other birds, wild or domestic. No wild birds, even sparrows, can get into my coop or run, and my birds haven't free-ranged all winter. Now they won't get out for most, if not all, of this year. I guess there won't be any new biddies for me any time soon, unless my girls decide to get busy on their own.

Just one more cursed thing.

Sigh. Updating a spreadsheet I run for fuel useage/cost for work....and thinking good gosh. This one vendor bills us twice a month - end of the month and 15th. I'm afraid for the 3/15 bill....that's going to be a doozy....and it'll only get worse. (thank gosh it's not coming out of my bank account...)
