I candled the eggs in the NR 360 tonight, took out 7. Probably from the girls with no rooster at the moment. A couple iffy looking ones, the rest look good.

Morning all, no sleep last night.

1.) Basically a 30 minute to an hour long shift that involves checking pigs, cleaning stalls, checking waterers, checking each piglet/shoat, etc. We have morning shifts, every Monday and Wednesday.

2.) Yes, I totally understand the confusion. I was shocked too! They are HUGE animals, beasts even! On Monday, someone fed the sows for me, so they were not distracted when I went in to clean their stalls. One of the Durocs ended up chasing me and trying to "headbutt" me. I barely made it out of that pen, it had my heart racing!!

And of course, I wasn't gonna come to Wednesday's shift without preparing myself to see some aggression. It was the York this time. She got me pretty good. Ugh that old sow, definitely one of my least favorites... I wonder why they are showing such sudden aggression.

are they in "season" or close to pigging ??
