I didnt know they could give warnings. Even if it was only 30 seconds. Scary stuff. Did dishes shake?

They've been working on a warning system for years. 30 seconds might help if you were in a dangerous spot, like near the chimney. You don't want to be near falling bricks.
The whole house shook. Little bit of rattling of things and you could hear the rumbling, but it was mild and short so no problems.

We don't have many big birds around..I've seen a jay here and there. Mostly sparrows, different types of finches, hummingbirds .. they're leaving for the winter. Starlings..

We have lots of year round resident birds, including hummers. Scrub jays are ever present.
For about a month, there has been a HUGE and noisy flock of birds across the street at my neighbors place... couple hundred birds, possibly redwing blackbirds, or something like that. I haven't gotten close enough to see. The sure make a racket in the morning, singing the sun awake.

By the time you figure out what's going on, it's over. At least with the short ones. Getting the warning made us aware. Might have missed it otherwise, only a few seconds of shaking.
