Granny's gone and done it again

Not doing too bad, Granny, thanks for asking. Had a great summer. Fall saw me have a slight relapse on my diverticulitis. Still don't know what caused it. I stick like glue to my diet but obviously my colon didn't like something. Doctor thinks that a lot of my back pain is being caused by digestive tract inflammation. Guess the nerves all interact with one another and inflammation in the gut can cause inflammation in the nerve branches that affect the back.

The rest is good old degenerative disc disease, narrowed innerspaces and arthritis.

I doubled down on the diet, got lots of rest and am on antibiotics and starting to feel better again so hopefully I'm on the right tract.

I may consider the Ablation down the line if the neck pain gets the better of me and meds or PT won't help anymore then I may toss my cards in on it but not now, and not with those odds. But I'll be 70 years old next year and hey, 70 year old skeletons have their issues. God gives me the strength to face them and face them I shall.

Doctor wanted me to start biologic treatment of my osteo again even though my latest dexa scan showed improvement. I said no, and meant no. It was wrecking my quality of life and life is too short as it is without the treatment being as bad as the disease if not worse.
I've been having colon problems since I had C-Diff. I take something almost every day to keep somewhat normal. Works for me. I will also be 70 next year.. unbelievable..! Also said no to treatment for osteoporosis.. which I was diagnosed with this year. Too scared to do it after hearing about it...go to hospital, hope for ..not too bad if a reaction. 😳 There are different options though. Checking those out.

I thought you were in your 40s MC. Sounds like you are doing the same as I am. Pinched nerves all down my spine. What are biologic treatments?
I wish!

They had me taking Prolia injections once every 6 months. The purpose is that they force your body to rebuild bone where there is bone loss. Great in theory but not without its side effects, namely fatigue, joint pain (laying on the sofa crying sort of joint pain, mainly in my knees), hair loss, brain fog, suppressed immune system. All in all similar to the biologic drugs they use to treat RA, Psoriasis, etc.

Do you have the degenerative disc disease in your spine and neck also?

I also have IBS with constipation which the GI told me was the cause of the diverticular disease. Loads of fun. Almost as much as C-diff. Were they able to get it to colonize for you I hope?

It was funny. The last time I saw my regular doctor and he went over my Dexa which I knew was improved, he said 'well the T-score parameters say that you should be under treatment'. To which I replied 'no more biologics'.

Now this guy knows my life style. Knows that DH and I harvest and process over 15 cords of firewood that we use to heat our house (love that wood burning fireplace too, @CapricornFarm). He knows I have 50 odd chickens, yes they are odd, but I really don't know how many I have because then DH can't yell at me, lol. I've asked him if it's okay for me to lift and carry 50 pound feed bags and he said yes as long as I didn't carry them a long distance and didn't hold them for a long period of time.

He actually had the Cajones to ask me if I would be willing to add weight bearing exercises to my exercise regime. I swear I just set there staring at him like is this guy paying attention to me. He added 'like weight lifting?'

Now the running joke here is every time I lift a feed bag, use my lipo battery chain saw, carry 20 pound water jugs out to the coop, I look at my husband and say 'does this qualify as weight bearing exercise, dear?'

Definitely look into alternative treatments. Right now I do hiking, walking and take 1200 mg of Citrical and 5000 mg of vitamin D3.......and do weight bearing exercise brah hahahahahahahah.

Hi Everyone! Hi Granny!

Was reading about ablation Granny. They wanted to do that on my neck and I refused it. My regular doc agreed that I wasn't progressed enough with my neck pain to go that route and they warned me that they couldn't guarantee the length of time it would work. Might be a year, might be a month.

Sorry, I need better odds than that.

@CapricornFarm, DH was back in the timber doing the same thing. Winds last week brought a tree down near one of our trails. He went back and cleaned it up. I arrived on the scene in time to help toss it in the tractor bucket and haul it back to the ol' ranch house.

Is that your house in the background? Gorgeous! I love the split log siding.

So how's everybody been here at Granny's place? Sorry for the lapse. Busy time of the year...heck the whole year has been busy for that matter.
:frow hi microchick, good to see you! :hugs Hope you have been keeping well.

Doin the best I can with what I got BigBlue. :hugs How you doing?
Fair to middling, sister, fair to middling! I may not stay on tonight as long as I usually do in fact, I'm in a lot of pain in my feet. Plantar fasciitis, if you don't have it I don't recommend it, lol. 😉 I'm getting ready to take a pain pill and call it a night pretty soon.

I have that! Do you go to stairs and do the stretching from the toes down? Man it's painful. Maybe I shouldn't say I have it.. knocking on wood because it hasn't acted up for a few years. But sweetheart, I know the pain!
