Granny's gone and done it again

No, Ethel is about 10 miles from where we live as the crow flies. There are a lot of Amish communities around the north eastern part of Missouri. Each community from what we understand comprises a given number of miles. For instance the community we are in the middle of is south of state route 156. North of 156 it is a completely different community and it shows.

The Amish around us appear to be ummmm...slobs? Yeah that is the right word. Debris, equipment, broken down buildings, etc cluttering their property. Houses and yards are for the most part tidy but other than that they look like side sets for a Mad Max movie. In all honesty the Amish man involved keeps his property tidy in comparison with most. But this community's attitude towards non Amish isn't the best. We've always tried to treat them with respect. We don't 'dust' them when we pass them with our car, we frequent their businesses, if somebody has problems with a rig or horse in front of our property we lend them a hand and we have told them that if their kids are being harassed have them come up to our house for safety.

This isn't the first time we have had to nudge the guy in order to get the straw he owes us but it's the first time that he's dropped the ball completely. But in dropping the ball he's really put us in a bad spot as far as coming up with the straw/bedding we need to get us over the winter months. He still may come through but we are doubting it at this point.

A friend told my husband. When a 'big city' person cheats you, you sort of expect it but when a 'country' person does the cheating it makes you realize what a sorry shape the world is in.

The good news is that our pasture grows really nice grass and we won't have a problem finding somebody who will harvest it for hay next year. Hopefully somebody who will be honest with us. I mean, seriously, how hard would it be to drop a note off saying he was having trouble coming up with wheat straw for us but hadn't forgotten about us? It's like, well, they're old, they'll forget about it if I don't come through. That is the big insult. We had to contact him. I thought we were done begging people for what they owed us when we retired. Guess I was wrong.

We live about 7 miles away from La Plata MO, Troyer.
The Amish puppy mills are the worse. I don’t like the way they treat their animals.

those were both interesting reads. Thanks.
It was dark before I got home. Im wore out
I hate this time. I really do. It's dark when I'm off work. Don't want to take Goose for a run when the coyotes might eat us. :/

Sigh. "oops look surprise audit and bossman needs something so instead of asking me...he asks other admin. Who doesn't know how to do anything reporting that requires any kind of critical thinking, anything needed outside of the default reports, or any kind of excel fun. So she emails ME asking ME to do it and email it to her....
(she also included bossman on that email at least, bossman added to it so I reached out to him directly to clarify some things and timelines, got it done, now it's back to payroll I go....)

Oh yeah. And two mystery time cards from the pour crew magically appeared today. But one blew out a window on the way here. Not sure who it was...

Good grief.

I'm so excited! I do have BVD. Binocular Vision Disorder. Went to a Neuro Optometrist and got tested after having had my regular eye Dr. do a test with his machine telling me that yes I have it. The Neuro doc does more extensive testing, adjusts some glasses they have there, and just like that it happened. I had heard that it works well for some right off the bat, but didn't have my hopes up because I knew it could take a while, but they worked right away. I cried. Yes I did. I walked down his hallway and turned quickly to test them. I didn't have to hold on to the wall! I said to him..no way..I kept saying it .. no way. I didn't pick out frames there because they didn't have much to choose from. I need a real light pair because heavier ones give me headaches. Going to Walmart to pick some out and take them back to his office. It will only take about 10 days to get them, bi focals. I'm so happy. I'm still woozy, but oh man, I feel so much more..grounded.
