Shoofly pie.... .... another Pennsylvania Duetch epicurean delight!

You guys are making me feel all nostalgic. My mom was a tremendously talented cook. She could make Shoofly that was good enough to wake the dead for a slice.

Guess I'm lucky, I was raised in a household with lots of good ethnic food, from Southern Cuisine to Pennsylvania Duetch/German food. There was always some might good eatin going on around our home.

I had to draw the line at Pigs Feet and Beans thought. Love beans and ham with cornbread but never could handle eating pigs feet unless they were pickled. Just too much work getting through the fat to get to the meat.

I drew the line at pigs feet, snout and ears myself. I don't mind eating the vegetables that were slow cooked with it.

I never tried them but my step father could suck them down. He loved pickled pigs feet. Mom too

When my mom was married it was their tradition to have a dinner at the brides moms house. My GM cooked fried chicken feet and put one in each of their plates and said "Now, go scratch for yourself".
