Granny's gone and done it again

Chickens eat everything i feed them , except BEANS!
Mine love left over baked beans. You'd think I was serving them lobster.

I have a rooster that is driving me nutz and probably heading on a one way trip to freezer camp. He seems to focus on how mean he can be to a very submissive bachelor flock mate. Seriously doesn't give the boy a minute's peace. I was in the coop and saw him hit the submissive rooster and proceed to chase him and hit him over and over. I happened to have a water jug in my hand and started hurling the water jog at him. I'm a good aim. Rooster was screaming, other birds were screaming. I kept at him for about 5 minutes. Said water jug was empty so not doing him any harm. Less impact than a wiffel bat but made a lot of noise and I'm sure he just 'felt' it enough to know he was being hit by that big featherless chicken that brings in the food and water along with treats.

I kept yelling "HOW DOES IT FEEL?" at him like he could understand.

This morning I went out to let them outside and he came out, took one look at me, squawked and ran back inside.

Well if nothing else, he will leave me alone.

Lol, this made me laugh. One of the Tolbunt boys in the bachelor coop is missing all the feathers on the back of his head. I guess i need to move him someplace else.

“Sometimes, us roosters are just misunderstood :(!”
“Come here, give us a kiss” 589374E8-989A-46DF-81AC-8942F3CC2383.jpeg

I just came in from feeding and watering.

Duke, the rooster who is being abused by Strutter decided to get into the main coop where he was suddenly not shy, not submissive. He was showing off for the girls who weren't impressed. So now I was chasing him around trying to catch him. Finally herded him back into the bachelor coop.

Doctor asks, do you exercise? I can say, yep, I chase chickens.

@featherhead007, that boy has a kisser only a mother would love.

I love him 😍. He’s such a good rooster!

I've got one like that. Looks similar to your boy also only more black. His name is O2 as his Sire was Oliver. Bird looks threatening and evil but is a sweetheart and very pretty...except when molting then it's a kisser only a mother would love in spite of his gentle nature.

Jaffar is a Cochin Bantam (infamous for his roostering antics)

I'm owned by about 25 bantams so I know what you are talking about when it comes to their roostering antics. Duke, my beat up bantam Fayoumi cross was being chased around and kept out of the coop by two of my SDW roosters. a fourth if that of his size. Big birds in a small package.

O2 has a bit of cochin in him. Maybe why he is a bit of a 'clown' when it comes to his personality.

Side note. I bought two of those Tin Cat live catch mouse traps and have been putting them in my coop with chunks of Ramik in them for bait. In four days I have disposed of about 50 mice. I take the traps out to the road and open them up. The mice scatter but since they have been feeding on bait no problem concerning them coming back.

What stunned me was that tonight when I opened the trap there had to be somewhere around 15 mice in it. Maybe more.

Do I recommend those traps. Oh yeah.
