Granny's gone and done it again

Here's our winter. Brown cattails!

Along the main road entrance to our neighborhood. Haven't seen so much run off in many years. Haven't seen so many cattails there either.

3 more rainy days, a break on Tues, wet Wed, then no more rain in the forecast... for now.

Thanks Cynthia. Same here. I did the Prolia infusions for almost 3 years. It was horrible. Dr said my osteoporosis was severe enough that there was a hip fracture in my future and it would be a life changer so I went along with his recommendations. My last Dexa Scan showed no porosis but he said my T score was still pretty bad and he recommended I go back on the Prolia.

I put on my big girl panties, pulled my self up to my whole intimidating 62 (barely) inches and said NO! No Prolia. It may of helped me but the side effects affected my quality of living. Joint pain, fatigue, depressed immune system. Skin infections and if you do your homework on line you will find that it can contribute to intestinal bleeds which is what I had in Sept of 21. I wasn't going to go there again.

Promised him I would do more weight bearing exercises...like hauling 50lb feed bags, 20lb water jugs, helping DH roll around 200lb sections of fire wood into the tractor bucket isn't enough weight bearing exercising. Promised I would walk more and keep up on my 1200 mg of Citracal and 5000 mg of vitamin D3. But no more Prolia.

Plus the expense was pretty bad. Without insurance or Medicare a dose was at the time over 2400 dollars. I was paying over 260 out of pocket, close to 300$. Told my DH that it was the first time in my life I ever paid for being tortured.
See..I also have intestinal problems, really bad since I had C-diff. It just never got back to normal. On top of having IBS. I don't want to chance side effects either with everything else that's going on. Nope.

There gonna love that water! Did you know the very bottom of the cat tail is eatable and the dead bloom makes really good tinder.

You just got another two more. Both are very cool pictures. Well done.

Are you allowed to drink or eat dairy products? One of the questions on my paperwork for my last Dexa Scan was whether or not I consumed 3-4 dairy products a day. Actually I do about three. A glass of milk in the morning, a pudding snack cup at noon and another serving of pudding or light ice cream after dinner. On top of the Citracal and calcium added to things like cereal I should be a walking ham bone.

I have IBS with Constipation also. GI said that was what caused my diverticular disease and lead to the colitis and bleed I had. I can't do aspirin or any INSAIDS except tylenol and the doctor put me on Tramadol for my degenerative disc disease and arthritis. Plus I have to take a boat load of fiber and Miralax every day. She told me absolutely NEVER let myself get constipated again.

The Prolia also can cause constipation. Another one of it's delightful side effects. If you ever want some entertaining reading just google Prolia side effects. One article I found was on the manufacturer's own site where people could comment. My jaw dropped when I read about the other people who had bad problems with it. One woman kept telling her doctor that she was having so much pain that she couldn't walk after getting the shots. He didn't believe her and told her she had to keep taking them. Her husband wound up taking her into the infusion center in a wheelchair and when they asked her why she wasn't walking she told them. They refused to give her the shot.

Always remember a little old lady I encountered at the nursing home where I worked. She was just this sweet little thing. Tiny, white hair in a neat bun, immaculately dressed with a shawl around her shoulders. Just adorable. I walked up to her with her pills and said "How are you this morning Mary?" She looked up at me and said "Anybody who calls getting old the golden years is out of their 'bleeping' minds."

Mary, where ever you are, Dang girl, you were right!
