Granny's gone and done it again

oooooooo, me too, Wishing. Gorgeous birds. I love Speckled Sussex just lovely sweet birds. Had one that I lost to Marek's that was a heart breaker to lose. She was just such a wise little hen, calm, nothing flustered her.

Are those Welsummer hens I see also? Yeah, I know I could go back and find your post but I'm cooking dinner and this is more fun. :-)

Only down side about Wellys is good luck candling the eggs. Other than using a flood light it's pretty much mission impossible to candle anything over a week into gestation.

I would candle in a closet that was totally dark at about day 5 just to try to catch a glimmer of movement and after that, well it was anybody's guess.

Those eggs are just so darn dark.

This hen lived to be 10. Sweetest personality.

Okay, @CapricornFarm, got the pictures of the rock.

The thing is about as big as a small cantaloupe. It was a real joy to carry uphill back to the house in my treasure bag with the other rocks I found.

I tried to get a close up picture of the quartz lacing in it in the upper photo. Like I said, the closest thing I can find to matching it is lace quartz but then I'm no expert, just a happy rock hunter.

I have not seen anything like this! Still learning about rocks. Sadly, i don't have a buddy to rock hound with me. And i have so many other interests, they take up a lot of my time. So i have not been to any meetings of clubs.

I noticed an egg in the incubator has a crack. So i will be duct taping that tonight. I candled it, and it is developing.
First use of the incubator this year.
