Granny's gone and done it again

so she did the same thing bandit wants to do but in a big dogs body.

We separated them the first time. The size difference made it possible. Rosie didn't hurt him, and he could easily avoid her. Pi is very submissive... no chance he would retaliate, so we let them work it out, but under supervision. We were also in Rosie's backyard, her territory, so she had the upper hand.

She always wants to be where it's cold. So when it's warm outside she'll go down to the basement. Then she gets lonely or has to go to the bathroom, so she'll stand at the bottom of the stairs and either whine or bark for someone to come get her. We used to be able to just call her, encourage her and she would come. But now someone has to go down and come up with her. She seems to need to SEE someone beside her to have the confidence to come up. And sometimes she still hesitates. She'll take the first step with her front feet, then back down, sometimes several times. Before she can get her back legs to follow. Sigh. I can't carry her, she's too heavy and I'm not strong. We'd both fall down.

Poor girl.

I didnt do anything. I have been scolding him but he probably thinks I am talking to the pup and truthfully the pip is trying to play and he dont want tne time frosty growled at the pup because she was jumping on her trying to play and when frosty growled Bandit went after the pup protecting frosty I guess

well she is sending mixed messages to the pup because sometimes they play chase.

I would like h2o's opinion on this, but I would say yes, correct him if he growls. To me, a growl is a bite that just has not connected yet. I would not tolerate an adult dog growling at a puppy. He is not responsible for you, he is responsible TO you. That means it is not HIS job to decide to guard you unless YOU order him to do so. He is not the boss, you are.

I would have the puppy confined, like in an X-pen Not allow to annoy others. I have a dog that will draw blood on a puppy. I don’t allow that.

You have to teach her. Or Robert does. Set some boundaries. Pi is not allowed to chase cats. It's a hard lesson.

I know you can't do this, but IMO what Bandit needs is a crash course in basic obedience. He needs to be put in his place and learn to take orders. He needs to understand he is not the alpha dog. I wish Robert could take him to a basic course or have a trainer come work with him. He would have such an attitude adjustment and be a much happier and calmer dog!

Bandit still wants to fight her. We bought him a muzzle. I dont know what else to do. He is growling at her.
