Granny's gone and done it again

you have gotten lucky then. I seen one killing mine. Pulled their feet and wings thru the wire.
I guess ours are well fed. My neighbor had. A red fox living on his deck for four months. Just got killed by a car. I guess our dogs do a good job of keeping predators away.

Last night i went to check the chickens in Turkey Town, and there was a huge furry possum near the door to the old Turkey Coop! Went and got hubby, he brought the rifle and shot the thing in the head, 3 or 4 times! We figured it would die any minute, so went in the house. I went out later to dispose of the body, and it wasn't there! I couldn't believe it! So i started looking for it. Never did find it. But i did find another possum in the tree not far from the Turkey Coop! Not the same one, as this was smaller and had a stub of a tail. Went back for hubby again. That one stayed dead. The only conclusion i can come to on the first possum, is that brains are not essential for possum survival. He definitely hit that possum, there was blood everywhere.
Maybe an owl came through and helped himself, it would be an easy target.
Maybe a fox or something had a snack
I was thinking in those lines as well.

I was out looking for morel mushrooms today when Bowser who was out ahead of me a bit, started barking, if he barks aggressively I know to take notice. It was brushy enough that I couldn't see him but he wasn't very far away. Captain was with me and when he heard the barking he dashed off to see what was going on. When he got to where Bowser was barking he excitedly started barking too. I quickly ran over to them to see what had set them off that much and of all things they had cornered a fox in a small hollow at the base of a tree. The fox couldn't get back far enough to get out of their reach and they pulled him out and killed him.
