Granny's gone and done it again

I've found that if I keep the chicks too warm and too dry, that's when they get pasty butt. I know conventional wisdom says to start them out at 90°F for the first week and lower it 5° each week, but ours do best at about 85° in the brooder in a 70° room, with a humidifier on. Our last three batches of chicks have done very well this way, and we've had almost no PB; our last batch had only one chick with one episode. The chicks keep each other warm by huddling occasionally, otherwise they are active for the most part.

I always try to have a nice warm spot and then cooler areas. They generally do what's best for themselves. Pasty butt often comes from the chicks getting too cold during shipping.

I've had one. Well actually it was the baby I was pregnant with that had the MRI. Every time that machine went CLANG CLANG CLANG, he would turn and flip and move like crazy, which meant they couldn't get good images, so had to start again. Took over 45 mins to get usable images. He was 5½ months along. Grown man now and still sensitive to loud noises, although he doesn't do the flips any more.

What were they checking?

Ugh....technology is not my friend today.

My lappy is being uber frustrating. I just have ONE MORE CREW to go through. ONE MORE! And it's being...grrrr....

It was working ok earlier, but then I had to break to make dinner. And that took longer cause I had to do some prep for lunch tomorrow too. (still have to finish the prep for lunch....)

Least I got the garbage/recycle/green bin out. Missed it last week...

Sleep? Who the flock needs sleep? Obviously not me....

What were they checking?

Brain anomaly they were tracking, found in routine ultrasounds. Turned out to be much ado about nothing, thank heavens. It had completely resolved by the time he was born.

Screaming...I give up. I absolutely give up. Back to lunch prep, hopefully it behaves itself in the morning, and if not...I may have to go in early.
