Granny's gone and done it again

We have used up all the canned peaches and the store is still out of stock. No apples of any kind in the house. No berries. Nada thing to make a thing out of. This is what happens when all you think about is what you have to get done during the day with your chickens.
Your store has no canned peaches?!

my favorite is pears. Maybe the store has those! Of course PB&J always works too
I have a tree full of them. Almost ripe. They're nice and big now. I have someone coming to pick them when they're ripe. Took photos of them today for her. She came last year. I'll keep some, but we won't be able to eat many..I don't can.

I went to bed hungry some when young during the final years of the Great Depression. My kids never had to. I made sure of it. When my mother was young during the worst of the Great Depression she ate ok because her parents farmed. She had neighbors that lived off of the poke weeds growing by their outhouse and any where else they could find it. Some lived off of boiled catfish from the strip mine pits. On the rare occasion that a friend would butcher a hog and give them some lard they had fried catfish. I had a friend from WI that had neighbors of her parents that lived on lard sandwiches. They should teach this in schools to the whiny brats that complain about school lunches.
Seems a few of us grew up poor, and..Speaking of school lunches..my mother raised 5 of us alone once we moved here to Utah. She worked, but only helped keep us in a ..well very old house. We now remember it as as the shack. Pretty small. Not really big enough for a family if six, but were grateful for it. I remember trying to make biscuits. We didn't have all of the ingredients. Those things were about as hard as a piece of cement. :( I went to school hungry most days. I could hardly wait for lunch. I worked in the lunchroom to get a free meal. I finally started getting jobs..babysitting mostly, and helped buy food. Even though I had a lot in my youth, I still like peanut butter sandwiches.

It's a bigger can than the soup. Like a big can of peaches. And so you don't have to cook chicken, buy you a can of chicken over there by the canned tuna. Couldn't be easier!
I've made this before. My biscuits were kind of runny on the bottom part because of them sitting on the juices. So next time I cooked the biscuits separately then put them on. Another time, I just made toast and we broke it up and put it on top of our portion.

Umm... dogs are like kids, Granny. If they get treats they won't have much appetite for their meat and potatoes. My advice is to cut out the treats and feed them ONLY their regular food, and ONLY on the schedule you want them to eat! It will only take one or two days for them to realize they better eat when they have a chance. And I am sure @h2oratt will agree with me!

Jenny was on a scedule where they fed her at 9 pm. Well that didn't work for me. She did not eat AT ALL for five days but it only took two more days to get her on the schedule I wanted her on.
I feed mind twice a day. .owning. Treat early afternoon, then at 5 or 6. Then, a small bit around 10. My Gracie needs to eat something at night before bed or she gets real sick. I portion this out that is working for them. Not one of them is over weight.
