Granny's gone and done it again

Aw, Granny. Life is hard sometimes. Maybe it's to keep us humble. I remember a time in my life when I had to use food stamps and food pantries. Shoot, just getting food stamps was an exercise in humility. They didn't want to give me any because I had earned a whole $25 the previous month, training a dog. That didn't end well. That's when I ended up on the psych ward in the hospital and got my dx of bipolar so I thank God for that. But it was humbling to have other people fill up a box with food and say this is what you get to eat this month. Sometimes it was stuff I couldn't use, so I shared it with other people who were also in need. You learn to be grateful.
I was on food stamps too, back in the 80's with 4 kids, alone. Thankful for them.

The summer of '65 we had $5 a week for food and baby formula. Lived on a couple of lbs of 29¢ a pound hamburger, Cream of mushroom soup, and a bag of rice. It was rough but we survived. I never want to see those kinds of days again. That is one reason I want a nice garden with hens that lay eggs for us and to hatch for fryers and roasters and replacement hens for the one that become stewing hens for dumplings. Covid type pandemics are hard especially when store shelves are empty. You can't buy whats not there even if you have a k a weed for food. We have a lot of canning jars and a lot of lids. See on hand. I just need my hips to hold up so I can walk behind the tiller and the strength to harvest what makes. I'm already seeing lots of bare places from week to week. One bare place gets stocked and another one is empty. We have enough land here to feed all of our family if they help out. They may get hungry if they are to good to get their hands dirty.
This is why we have a 2 year supply of food. Some is getting old from not using it. I've been going through things. Who knew salt doesn't have a forever shelf life. My lima beans..too old. I know there's a box of tuna that needs to go. So, I'm having the kids here buy one something that has an at least 2 year shelf life when they go shopping. Something we use. I just bought a huge bag of rice and flour. I also just bought a bread maker. I used to make it by hand, but my wrists and shoulders don't work like they used to. Now I need to go through my 72 hr kit. It's been a while! Need to make sure clothing fits. 😄 Plus I know my meds need to be updated.

Oh dang for Red. That's rough. My thoughts go out to him and his fam.

So the house that hubs liked...apparently the buyers are trying to get out of it...cold feet or something I don't know. (yes, there's a few red flags with the house other than its age). So, it might just happen. We're doing the cleanup, going hardcore and our place will likely be listed early next week/late next week. Soon. (edit after I posted this, I noticed I had email from the realtors, just didnt notice it cause it went to my "everything" email address. I don;t get notifications for that one. We'll be listing on or before 11/15. My parents fly in on the 12th. flock my life)

Stress is real. I'm torn between nuts to this place with my job and trying to finish out the year and year end stuff/tax stuff. Or I'll figure out how to do it remote. I would be able to continue doing payroll and benefits admin remotely, just so long as someone can scan me in the time cards/time sheets. Benefit of that is I would still have a regular paycheck, and that would look good if I had to take out a home equity line of credit for the renovations, downside is I'd still be working for the same people. I think it would be a temp thing either way. Until they find someone else.

My parents are still set to come down to visit in a few weeks and I am STRESSED beyond words with that - especially with me mudder's allergies to darn near every cleaning product known to man...among other things.

Work...is work. My bosslady for all her griping lately about coverage and changing my hours so that I'm in the office full days.....well, on my week away on vacation, SHE decided to go on vacation. Leaving Other Admin all by her lonesome to not only do her job, but to do payroll too. She told other admin this on the friday, and said she'd ask her daughter to come in to help her out. Apparently came back in to the office on wednesday and teehee forgot to ask her daughter...so no wonder payroll was a bit of a freaking mess.

Alright. Going to try to dust/declutter a second bookshelf now...got my big one done yesterday while I had a migraine flirting with me...so go me.
Allergic to Dawn dish soap? It's a great cleaner.
