Granny's gone and done it again

To do it right, a person would need the right setup. It would be quite a commitment. And you're right. A responsible breeder has to be willing to cull to the standard. Crossbeak? Cull. Weak legs? Cull. Extra toes? Cull. Failure to harden one's heart is why we have cats with stumpy legs (oh, how cuuuute! - never mind that the cat is a cripple), curly-coated Rottweilers, and any number of "adorable" aberrations across the board. Sorry - soapbox rant complete.
 
Those are beautiful birds, Larry. But I can't see paying those prices for something a raccoon might get hold of ... although we haven't had losses to predators in quite a while.
if I ever have chickens again they will be in the correct run that no predators can possibly access. I still remember the shock of that morning coming out to see body parts everywhere.
