Granny's gone and done it again

I can't take strong pain pills. I've gone ahead and gotten them after surgeries, but didn't use them. I save them also. The hard pill can last years. Liquid pills not so long.
Keep them in a safe place! We now have ours in a safe. GC od'd a few months back. I never would have expected it of her. We were on the road coming back from St L at the time. Thank God she called 988.

I understand them being careful and wanting to prevent opioid addiction, abuse and overdoses. But come on! Immediately following surgery or a car wreck or other accident, they need to give you enough to get by. Two months later, okay, not so much. By then you probably don't need a 90-day supply written to take every 4 hours, but please! A little common sense here, eh?
what about those that have chronic pain?

They should get what they need, of course. Like cancer patients. I'm talking about pain that heals like ... a broken bone or surgery.
