If tomorrow goes well I'll have about an acre of garden tilled. Going to have a big sweet corn patch this year. If all goes as planned we will freeze enough for 2 years just in case we can't grow any next year.

Not really when you have good equipment to cultivate with and have stuff growing on a biodegradable plastic mulch.

We have a couple hundred new canning jars to fill. Need to use the lids before the seals go bad.

I had a short nap in the middle of the day while ma went to the dentist. I don't do outside work when she is gone. I carry a walkie talkie when working alone.

When we live in MO we had and acre of garden at the house and more on a friends farm down on some silty river bottom for water melons. With 4 indentured servants at the time we filled jars and a big freezer every year. We really needed to.

Large gardens for growing food and then preserving it for the rest of the year as well as having chickens has been a way of life from both sides of my family. They ate good right through the Great Depression.
