Brush fires aplenty in the Texas panhandle. One of them has burned 250,000 acres and zero percent contained. Another is about 50,000 acres and a couple more at about 8,000 each. High winds and low humidity is driving them.

Sigh and Mother nature is at it again.

Yesterday had a high of 59* NEW record high. 12 hours later we were at 0* and with wind chill -35*. Didn't get over 10 above today. And about 3 inches of snow or so.

Well lost a 2 year old heifer either late Sunday or early monday morning.

Mike and I dragged her out of the paddock it was nice of her to drop/plop right by a gate. When it either freezes solid again or dry's out Mike can just grab her with the bobcat and go about 50 ft and toss her in the burn pit.

Got the vet's bill for last week, Not to bad considering they did the following

18 ultra sounded/pg tested

28 got vitamin shots

5 bangs vaccinated

and Linus's marble's removed.

Vet and a vet tech helping her.

total was $606.59

They charged me $240 and hour for "herd work" than the cost of the vitamins, and the tetnus and penicillan for Linus. Plus a $55.00 basic farm call. NO mileage fee as they had a job 2 miles east of me first.
