We have some awesome oaks here in California
We had some in my home town in FL that were a hundred years old and then Hurricane Donna came to visit us... Town was shut down for two weeks without power. I lived about 60 miles from what the U of F declared the oldest oak in FL. I got to see it once about 12-13 years ago. It is huge. It survived Hurricane Charley, Frances, and Jeanne.

You made me curious, so I googled, and found out that we have 8 species of white oak and 13 of red oak here in Missouri! :eek:I knew we had a lot, but I had no idea there were this many. I know we have at least 4 or 5 different ones right here on our property.

I have done all of mine in the clinic. I don’t know how they can be accurate at home. In the clinic they put electrodes all over your scalp. That way they can measure what type of sleep you are in by your brain waves. I know there are at least three different types. Light, deep and REM.
If I ever have to have another one and they want me to do it at home I'll find someone else to do it. I want it accurate. There is to much riding on the results to not get the best results possible. The clinic was much more involved than just a meter put on a finger and a one or two electrodes maybe...

What they gave me looks like it will at least measure my heart rate, my oxy sat, and breathing rate/changes. For our purposes, that may be enough. I don't think they need to know any EEG stuff, just whether apnea is the cause of me waking up during the night, as opposed to whether my bladder is the culprit.

Black oak, Pin oak and Water oak are varieties of Red Oak.

Bur oak is a type of White oak.
