Granny's gone and done it again

Sorry all but its been a WEEK of H3LL , From 6:30 am on Friday morning until Midnight Sunday about 4 hours of cat naps. Ended up taking Beth in for an emergency C-section. She still had 2 pups in her even tho the x-ray only showed 1. The vets managed to save/bring back to life one of them who passed Tuesday evening. Beth and the 3 living pups are doing well, Toes and Tails were done Weds afternoon. After I got into a bit of an argument with the Vet tech. NO I want a 1/3 of the tails left on. Don't care what the vet researches is standard for Springers as there is NO standard all the rules say is tail must be docked. Also these are field trials/breed not the show type.

C-section was 2300 and change all told and the toes and tails another 90+. Guess who's going in the hole on the litter. BUT, I will have Beth for a number of years now and pretty sure I have at least 3 out of the people who claimed they wanted pups. 2 males and a female. all liver and white.

A lot of vets list an emergency number BUT if your animal hasn't been seen by them before "tuff nuts ,try someone else" also had one SOB ask why I had bred Beth as she was to old. (this still bugs me)
How old is she?

Well, I'm really bummed. Actually, depressed. Gracie had a seizure last night. I knew it was coming. She started coughing longer than usual. Then she went into a seizure. I'll finish this bottle of meds, but if she keeps seizing I'm not going to renew it. The vet would probably up it. What's the point? I've learned that it isn't uncommon for the meds to wear off within as early as a few weeks. Yep. She is panting more often. I think I told you that I listened to her heart. That murmur is bad. The vet made sure I heard his concern after listening. Oh my Gracie.
Weather. Has been decent, in the 80's. Supposed to get up to 102 and 103 next week.

I am so sorry. It’s so hard to see them sick. It is 112 here today. That alone is hard on the animals. Even just to go out to pee.

Even if it's not so hot today, the heat stress we have off and on is hard on a body. So sorry!:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Sorry to hear about Gracie. It hasn't been a good week on our pets of any kind. Just came in from feeding and watering the coops. Lost a young pullet I think to the heat. They had feed and water. It was not supposed to get this hot but it got several hotter than guessed at. I put out 2 gallons of Sevin on the sweet corn to stop the worms in their tracks and wish it would stop the corn. Must get an electric fence up no later than Monday. Coons have already started on one variety that comes in first in the patch next to harvest.

What kind of worms? Do you have problems with earwigs in the corn?

Corn borers, ear worms of all kinds. I do not see earwigs anywhere on this place. We had them in FL out side where leaves would build up after the oaks shed in the fall. We have some ear worms that bore into the middle of the ear, some from the stem end of the ear, and a whole lot of them come in down from the silk end of the ear. After the destruction on the early garden that was for mostly fresh table use I'm on the warpath with the bugs that are attacking the process corn garden.

I was at the zoo one time, many years back and I was in awe with the monkeys and gorillas!
We recently went to the zoo in Michigan (2.5 hour drive). If you're ever in the area, check out the De Young Family Zoo. Nothing is in cages, but fenced in, in its natural environment. They let you hold some of the babies like koala bears, tigers, etc. if you're there at a certain time, or in this case, my hubby is carrying a snake. 😳
