Cattle dogs are notorious nippers, especially if they get excited. We have one that was a biter. Diesel. He'd get in a spat with one of his sibs and if DH was close by he would go after him. Poor hubby has a few scars from getting in the middle without being in the middle. We were ready to have Diesel put down. had even called the vet about it but then said, we didn't rescue these pups to euthanize them.I have heard horrible stories about Amish puppy mills. But there are just as many horrible mills that are not Amish. Dogs need to be socialized. Dogs that bite are sentenced to death sentence.
I have seen lots of dogs do that. I think its very cuteDH calls Betty Slinky because she wiggles her butt like a Slinky when she's happy to see you. I wonder if that's a sign that her hips are loose
Back home Saturday night. She got it temp fixed. They glued the one she broke back on while they are adding a new tooth to the partial that she has.Did Iris get her tooth fixed? Sounds like a busy day
How long will you be gone?
Me too. There was one in the shower.Shh....I see naked people.
Thanks!!!!Good!
How did you immobilize it? The vet said she should not be doing anything and prescribed trazadone. So far I haven't had to give her. I'm wondering if her medicine is making her sleepy. She's usually very active but she likes her cushion right now. I have her a cushion to rest on during the day when I first saw her painCattle dogs are notorious nippers, especially if they get excited. We have one that was a biter. Diesel. I went to work on Diesel. I'd trained a thick skulled German shepherd who liked to bite under the tutelage of a trainer who trained police dogs for the local departments. I became that dog's worse nightmare. I'd take him out twice a day on a leash and training collar and worked him for an hour on sit, heel, sit, stay over and over again. He wasn't allowed to sniff a blade of grass. Slowly he came around. Very very smart dog. He talks with his eyes when he wants something, looks at it then looks at me like, Mom, please can I have that bone my brother is chewing on?
We also had my husband start taking care of him. He fed him, brushed him, gave him treats so he started to see him not as another dog to dominate but as his master. The miracle is that now Diesel and my husband are best friends. That dog adores him.
Tonight I saw a meme on X. The animal that is the hardest to love is the one that needs it the most. I've also found one that said, The dog with the most problems is the one you need the most. In Diesel's case both applied.
@lovesfarms my parent's had a cocker mix that dislocated his hip. Other than diving into surgery, vet suggested immobilizing it for 8 weeks after reducing the subluxation. Worked like a charm. Makes me wonder if immobilizing your pup's leg/hip would help it heal and strengthen it.
Then they will pull it when she gets her partial? I haven't had teeth in over 30 years. Both of you are lucky to have kept yours all this time!Back home Saturday night. She got it temp fixed. They glued the one she broke back on while they are adding a new tooth to the partial that she has.
Don't know what they will do. If they remove it it will have to be cut out as is broke off at the gum line. I still have my lower but the uppers got to soft to take fillings and that lead to a denture. Maybe my lowers will last as long as I need them. Then they will pull it when she gets her partial?
