Granny's gone and done it again

Ummmmm I agree with him.

What if?

What if there are natural disasters or civil break down or riots or war? The Mormons have a years supply of food on hand at all times. ALL TIMES for the whole family and enough to share with those in need. He's using his head IMHO. Food can be recycled. I buy bulk from the local Amish store and so do most of the people around us along with our friends. We aren't Mormon. We are just practical.

The Amish have huge stores of food. All canned or on the hoof in the pastures. Big buckets of flour, rice, etc.

Get behind him and help him.

BUT! Only buy things you like. Peanut butter is a good example. Make your own bread. Rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, etc.

And find a way to cook if the power goes off. Don't be a victim, be a survivor.

I agree with being prepared.... I don't agree with the fear that is propelling him. I don't agree with staying awake at night watching all this till you can't calm down anymore.
Fear and anxiety are detrimental in so many ways. I can't tell him what to buy, he wrote down what the TV said.

Maybe you could steer him towards some YouTube videos that promote practical prepping. In fact there is a channel on YouTube called Practical Prepping.

I remember some of the panic back in the mid 70's. Someone whose lawn I kept was into prepping then. Wealthy car dealership owner. Then one day he found out he was terminal anyway... cancer. We have maybe 6 months of food that we have grown and purchased at good sale prices. We try and never pay full retail for food period. Very fond of buy one get one sales when the prices are not jacked up so they can do it. I see bare spots in stores now once in awhile but not like the TP panic.... We could go a month without running out of cereal... Bread too as we buy it to freeze once a month. Now we have found a bread store that has fresh bread for much less than what they sell it for through regular supermarkets including Walmart. There's no need go overboard and it would be foolish not to remember the great depression....

Just thought maybe part of the problem is he's been eating real soft foods for a month so he doesn't choke because of his esophagus. Maybe without realizing it, he's getting hungry for texture. He only rarely eats oatmeal if I put it in the blender. The bought soups give him heart burn. Maybe that is and part of my apprehension of letting loose and buying a bunch of groceries. He hardly eats rice cause it's constipating for some one with an ileostomy. Maybe he finally just got hungry🥺
