Granny's gone and done it again

I'm going to start supplemental lighting tomorrow, I think. DH opens the chickens up about 6:45 every morning and it's dark by 5:30. I'm only getting 5 eggs a day.
I know/ was told they are born with as many eggs as they will lay in their lifetime. If that's true do you think giving them a break helps them?

They've had a break. And I've seen nothing that says they die when they use up all their eggs. Humans are born with thousands of eggs and we never use them all. And we don't die when we stop ovulating so I don't see the connection.

Well today I woke up with a knife in my neck. Well, it felt like it anyway. I often get neck pain when I am coming down with something. I took a hot bath and soaked. It wasn't hot enough, since hubby had just had a shower. We need a new water heater.
Then I took half a Soma. Had a nap. I kept heating up a microwave buddy and wearing it on my neck. Still muscle spasm. Drank some Gatorade. Started sneezing. Took zicam.

Had a beer with supper. (PIZZA). Later another half of a muscle relaxer. Watching movies and quilting. Drank a fuzzy navel, it was very good. Unfortunately, my neck still hurts. Getting really to apply more heat as hubby heads for bed.
I sure hope my neck is better tomorrow!
Hope you all are well. I have not been able to see a doctor yet. Supposed to see that miserable Dr. Smith on Wednesday.

:hugs You're starting to sound like me, you can't get well and it's just one thing after another. Once your immune system takes a hit it's hard to get back on your feet. Think a chirpractor would help?
I have never seen a chiropractor, but I don't think it would help torn muscles. Going to try to get an MRI or a CT.

One year my hens went nearly six months without laying. And I don't let mine live till they die of old age anyway, I don't have room for that. I get new chicks about every other year and the old ones go in the freezer when they are about 3 years old.
Do you give them extra light in winter?

Do you give them extra light in winter?
I have in the past. The first time, I started about mid-February after they had quit laying in August. They finally started laying about mid-March, which maybe they would have anyway, idk. 🤷‍♀️

The following year I started a little earlier and this year I'm starting tomorrow. My pullets absolutely should be laying.

I turn the light on in the late afternoon and leave it on till 7 or 8 p.m.
