Granny's gone and done it again

Ma got two cans of those oversized Grands biscuits today that she will use covered with cherry pie filling baked up for a dessert. Sometimes she uses apple pie filling with extra cinnamon.
She puts the fruit filling on top of the biscuit? Does she put this in a pie plate, muffin tins, or ...?

Here is the recipe for "apple pie biscuits"
1 can of large biscuits like Grands.
1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 tablespoon cinnamon mixed together in a bowl.
1 can apple pie filling, 1 teaspoon vanilla mixed together. (I cut the apple slices in smaller pieces to make it easier to eat)
1 stick of butter melted in a container you can reach into.
dip the biscuits in butter then into sugar mixture so all sides are covered in sugar. place in a deep pan (at least 2 inches deep).
Spoon apple mixture evenly over biscuits.
pour remaining sugar and butter over the top.
Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.

This will run over and make a mess of your oven if you use a regular cake pan. I used a deep iron skillet.
The bottom turns to caramel when it cools.
If you cut the biscuits into quarters you will need more sugar mixture. I used 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg and 2 tbls. cinnamon.
Cherry pie filling is good too.
This is really good and easy.

Granny yes, very easy.

Oven 400°
2 cans Veg-All, drained
1 can Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup.
4 oz (1/2 c.) Milk
1 can Swanson's chicken, drained
Your choice frozen puff pastry, thawed OR 1 can "whop" biscuits (Pillsbury canned biscuits

1 egg + 1 tsp water, beaten together

Combine all ingredients except biscuits or puff pastry, pour into casserole dish. Top with the pastry of your choice, either the ouff pastry or biscuits. Brush top with egg wash. Bake 30 - 35 min or till brown. Let stand 5 min or so, serve hot.
How large of a can of chicken do you use?

Thank you, Iris, sounds really good! DH wanted a cherry pie this Christmas but couldn't find any. I will make this for him.

I've made this a few times. Casseroles are a big thing in Utah. :)
