Yes, this. They are perfect for icy conditions. They don't seem to help in snow. In VA we used chains for that.

Are studded tires still legal? When I had them there were speed restrictions because they were know to throw the studs out at to high of a speed. I think those tires were banned in the spring - fall months and maybe altogether later on in places due to the ear and tear on the pavement.

It's not dark yet and our temp is already down to 36°. Brought in the Bromeliad that we kept from mom's old place in FL. Want a green house for starting plants and winter tomatoes and squash along with it. May still bring it in during below 30° nights as insurance against its loss.
