Granny's gone and done it again

We use a lot of garlic here. I go through 1 or 2 heads a week. Seemed like a good crop to start, so this is my first year.

Yes, even in our golden years we can learn new things! 😁
What did you use for starts? Can you just use garlic from the grocery?

I also bought some mild jalapeno pepper seed to make cowboy candy from this year.
I didn't want the straw to sprout!!!!! Yes on the garlic. It was sprouting under the straw.
There must have been a lot of wheat kernels in the straw?

You might be able to do that, but you don't know how it was grown, or the variety. I bought garlic from a local nursery, all organic, and many varieties to choose from. I chose 3 and will see how it goes. The softnecks last longer, so I got one of those, but I'm partial to the hardnecks, so I got two of those. I will probably harvest over 60 bulbs because you plant individual cloves, not the whole bulb. It's all new to me, so I'll let you know how it goes. I expect the hardnecks to last several months, but the softnecks to last until at least the following February or march. I should be able to harvest in August. Well, that's what I think now. :idunno

Have to be careful eating the green fruit..... it's best to eat a lot of cheese and other corking foods at the same time to offset the effects of green fruit.
Grandmother called the results the "green apple two-steps"

Apparently. Should have put that in the chicken run. They would have loved it!!!
