What did you use for starts? Can you just use garlic from the grocery? We use a lot of garlic here. I go through 1 or 2 heads a week. Seemed like a good crop to start, so this is my first year.
Yes, even in our golden years we can learn new things!![]()

There must have been a lot of wheat kernels in the straw?I didn't want the straw to sprout!!!!! Yes on the garlic. It was sprouting under the straw.
You might be able to do that, but you don't know how it was grown, or the variety. I bought garlic from a local nursery, all organic, and many varieties to choose from. I chose 3 and will see how it goes. The softnecks last longer, so I got one of those, but I'm partial to the hardnecks, so I got two of those. I will probably harvest over 60 bulbs because you plant individual cloves, not the whole bulb. It's all new to me, so I'll let you know how it goes. I expect the hardnecks to last several months, but the softnecks to last until at least the following February or march. I should be able to harvest in August. Well, that's what I think now. What did you use for starts? Can you just use garlic from the grocery?

Grandmother called the results the "green apple two-steps"Have to be careful eating the green fruit..... it's best to eat a lot of cheese and other corking foods at the same time to offset the effects of green fruit.
Apparently. Should have put that in the chicken run. They would have loved it!!!I also bought some mild jalapeno pepper seed to make cowboy candy from this year.
