I would love to raise some type of quail for food. That's IF its cheap enough to make it worth the time and $ to do so. I've never ate one before or know anything about raising them! lol I just need a way to get some meat in the house.

Yes, California Valley, Gambel's, Mountain, Blue Scaled, Northern Bob white, Butler Bobwhite, Snowflake, Gray Barred Bobwhite, Mohogany Barred Bobwhite, Tennessee Red Bobwhite, and Button quail. About 500 total on the quail.

I'm 65, so I ain't no spring chicken! it's starting to get to the point I'm thinking of cutting way back on how many and which species I just have to have!
Sometimes I do raise the cheap,every day run of the mill ringneck for dinner purposes....nothing better than pheasant, IMHO, quite tasty!

If you can butcher a chicken you can butcher a pheasant....or quail or duck or goose, etc....the thing is with almost all my pheasants, I don't want to eat a $200 or $300 bird!....I'm afraid I'd choke on it!

It doesn't taste like chicken, it has a deeper flavor, not a wild taste but a more sophisticated flavor.
