New notice on the social security site saying I should get my windfall money in March. Then they will bump my check up in April. I can really use the extra money. Doesn’t look like anything I going down in price very soon. May take years.

Thank God some folks will be getting that. It was a good last order from the outgoing admin. With the prices and out-of-touch Cola and the fact the recipients were being penalized unfairly in the first place. Hope it all goes well for you!

Why do you get a windfall?

Biden changed an old law that had penalized certain social security recipients. If they worked for the government or certain other situations the SSA calculated their amount as if they made and paid SS tax on a lot less. A weird law in the first place, it was supposed to prevent "windfalls" (getting a fair amount? really?).

Why do you get a windfall?

Because I worked 15 years and paid into to SS, then I worked 12 years for city of Stockton. I get a pension from calipers. They penalize people like me by taking away a percentage of my SS.

Ah yes, I remember. Something like you couldn't collect SS AND your pension. I heard about this from a retired fireman. Certainly did not seem fair. This is exciting, maybe now he can pay off his house. I bet he and his wife are in their 80's and they are both in poor health now.

You're totally right, but we did do a fair few things when we got it.
Mom and I together fixed it up from salvage auction, despite knowing nothing about mechanics. We gained a lot of confidence just like you said. Just didn't have the money to buy outright and this was the idea God sent us. Worked Perfect!

Mom even painted the new front fender, you can't even tell!

We replaced the front bumper components, headlights, side mirror, etc.
New radiator shroud, a brake caliper, got the moonroof and AC working (fuses)...
and since we were at it, we did all new fluids including coolant flush, oil & filter, brake fluid, new brake pads and new rotors on all four.
After doing the rear brake pads though, we said Never Again, because they require a special tool to open up that even when you're using it is still so awkward and hard to do... and we were sweating and bleeding and like "Wahhhh"... lol

That is awesome work. I'm glad you got to do that with your mom. Makes it pretty special.

It really depends on where you worked. But mostly affects goverment workers that didn’t pay into SS. HERE IN calif they have a pension for gov workers called CALPERS.

You also had to get all your work quarters in the private sector.
Says about 3 million people will be effected.
