Granny's gone and done it again

Hi everyone. Sorry to having become such a stranger. Life...what a concept.

Got sent to an orthopedic surgeon by my PCP concerning my shoulder that I injured last June. Xray and MRI later and I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday. Seems as though I tore up my rotator cuff which is why I've been having so much pain and lost range of motion in it. Well, guess nobody can say I'm not a tough old bird.

They originally had it set up for the 13th then called today and said they had an cancellation and would I like to it done on Monday and I said yes, let's just get it over with. I'm not worried about the surgery, it's all done arthroscopically but the recovery is 6 weeks in a sling with absolutely no using the right arm for anything other than the light exercises they want you to do before they start you on Physical Therapy. They told me at 6 months I'll be out of the sling and doing pretty much what I want to do but it will take about a year for full healing.

Only thing that ticks me off is that my PCP could have sent me to the surgeon last October when I went to him about my shoulder and I would have been pretty much back to normal by now. Oh well, at least it's getting fixed. They did tell me that I had really done a good job coping with the pain and decreased ability to use it but they thought I was more like 60 than 71 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I heal as quickly as I did when I was 60!

Glad I had mine done. You will be happy to be able to use your arm again.
Prayers. :)
