Granny's gone and done it again

Oh wow! That's kind of ... exciting ... and also a little ... frightening? His case may go in the Journal of American Medical Association, is that right? JAMA.... since it's a first of its kind. When is his surgery, I want to put it in my calendar so I remember to pray for him, you, and his surgical team.
His surgery was on Thursday. We have 1 1/2 hour drive to the hospital so it's a full day when I visit him.
This is the 3rd hospital he's been in since February. They have tried to drain it twice with tubes and this is the second surgery.
His surgeons first comment after surgery was ' that was gross!!!' She said it was full of mucous. Not many body parts make mucous... But intestines do so it stands to reason that 4 years ago when he had surgery, they believe the surgeon missed a fragment of intestine which now became inflamed and is causing this abscess. They can't see it on any scan but they are suspecting this 'hypothesis' since there is no other reasonable explanation.

Crohn's is a disease of lots of inflammation....

Thank you for the prayers.

He will be in the hospital at least into Friday and come home with a wound vac machine and wound care nurses.

Their menu is quite interesting. I was told it's because most of the hospital is a children's hospital. I asked the nurse if she could make sure he gets food he can eat. He can't think fast enough when they come around taking orders. At 113 pounds, I hate seeing him get food he can't eat. She gave me a menu so I help him select meals for the next day. We can call the kitchen. I brought a box of rice krispies and ensure for this times his food is too tough

This evening he had a build it yourself pizza. They have a list of fixings and he can choose what he wants. They also have build it yourself sandwiches. He's eating well! They put him on a regular diet and then I order what I know he can eat. If they put him on a chopped diet, it will be too restricted.

I think I slept best in the recliner, MC, with the ice machine on. Yeah, naps. Probably should have just given up on the bed entirely for a while. The hardest part was getting OUT of bed, whoosh!
Yeah. I spent three nights in a big comfy rocking chair with my feet on a hassock. Then switched back to bed with a wedge pillow that lets me recline like I'm sitting in a recliner. Right now I can't bend over without my shoulder starting to throb. I'm wearing the sling 24/7 except to do PT, Went outside for some fresh air. Made the mistake of bending over to pull a few weeds and went running for the ice therapy again.

At least the ice helps.

Think I'll tell them on Tuesday when I go in that they need to give out a flyer that says Attention! This procedure hurts like Hades. The
PT hurts like Hades. You will go broke keeping the ice therapy machine in ice, and the abduction sling is as comfortable as a medieval torture device. Have a nice recovery!:th

I wanted to get the kitchen floor done before he comes home. Last summer the carpet got wet and I tore it out but just left the old tiles there. I ordered my supplies. I tore out the old tiles, sawed the oak flooring to fit, underlayment. Maybe tomorrow evening when I come home I can get started laying it down. It's click and lock. Hopefully it won't give me a hard time!
