I'm moving slowly. Very slowly. Going to assemble some nest boxes out of wood today designed with broody girls in mind. The current broody girl hatched hers in a rollout nest 3' off the ground. That wasn't good. These Legbars like to lay low to the ground and some are prone to be broody which I love. Having this mama hen with chicks helps me not think about my troubles. You should see these chicks at treat time stealing small bread crumbs from their aunts and poppa. The coop was one big family until I put her in an 8x8 coop of their own yesterday. Late in the afternoons they get out on grass and the little ones eat some grass and weeds already. They are getting high protein gamebird feed before any treats are greens. I'm going to town for a haircut again. Barbershop was closed until afternoon this morning. Don't know if I've posted it or not but I sold 48 Legbar eggs to a local and 44 of them hatched. He wants another 4 dozen + a couple dozen more for one of his local friends. By the time I get back to town the barbershop should be open and after that I'll stop at TS and pick up a bag of SG feed with the Pre and Probiotics that I've used on the earlier hatched chicks last month. They have grown like weeds and none sick. All thriving. They have been tamed with egg yolk treats in the palm of our hands. It's a mob scene the way they are all over us for their egg yolk treats. They come running to us every time we fill feeders and water dispenser. Got to go. Y'all be good. I go back and read some posts when I return and wait inside until the heat starts to dissipate.Hear this now, Nomad. If you die of heatstroke/ overwork, I swear I will NEVER SPEAK TO YOU AGAIN!So you'd better take care of yourself or Mama Blue will be ... irked!
