My sister was also in her 40s. I thought it was something from early childhood.She never had any symptoms when she was younger. I spent nearly every day with her and on til adulthood as well. I thought she was faking. I still do.

Same here. I guess I don't let them chew long enough for an oder..?
You're right not letting your dog chew on the thin ones. My dogs are small and I won't let them chew on anything they can get a chunk off of and swallow whole.
