My kids have two brothers who were not raised with them. The State of TX, in their infinite wisdom, did not think we could handle all 4 kids. Yeah, broke my heart but we could not convince them. They have all been together once since we got them 14 years ago. That was during a vacation we took 11 or 12 years ago. The two brothers are in the middle, between these two. Joshua, the next oldest, just younger than GC, has graduated college and has gone into law enforcement doing cyber security. That means he protects the government's computers from hackers. The next younger brother, just older than Elijah, is Benjamin. He just graduated high school. And he's the one I've sent a plane ticket to so he can come spend a week in July here with his siblings. He just turned 20 in May.

They were together for a while but Benjamin had behavioral issues when he was young and mostly grew up in group homes. Joshua, the older, did very well in one foster home wih a sweet black lady who raised him up all the way to adulthood. Other foster kids came and went, and he was expected to help out. He lucked out. He went on cruises and lived in a nice house in a nice neighborhood and went to a good school. The State paid for his college. He planned to come visit but got a job right out of college, so ... probaby won't.
