Granny's gone and done it again

It's hard. My parent smoked most of their lives it seems. Dirt poor to boot. They finally quit when they were in their 60s due to health problems. I asked them at one point if they ever figured out how much money they had spent on cigs down through the years and how they could have used that money for us kids having nicer clothes. She replied that she just thought it was their right to have cigarettes. Must be that generations' mind set. Everyone smoked. It left me with the desire to never smoke and I never did. My brother smoked while he was in Nam. Cigars mostly but quit once he got home.

When my parents finally quit I hugged them and thanked them for giving me the best gift of my life. I think they were bewildered. They just never saw it like it really was.

Well Chicken fans, today is my 72nd birthday. Yay, made it to 72!!! Hasn't been easy but all things considered I have so much to be grateful for. No big plans other than to eat cake till my eyes turn chocolate colored and then eat some more!

Granny hang in there. You have cut back already and so you are on the way to quitting. It takes time, patience and determination. When all is said and done, your life is at stake. We are your support team and are here when things get tough to help you.
