Granny's gone and done it again

Your body heals best while you are asleep. It doesn't have to concentrate on the million things you have to do during daylight hours and being awake. It can just put it's full attention to damage control.

Hi @ShrekDawg. Been meaning to say that all day. How's the poison ivy rash doing?

Ummmmm...no I don't think so other than not to fight being sleepy right now and to listen to your body when it tells you to lay down and rest.

Anesthesia by itself can have lasting side effects on your body. Especially at our 'tender' ages. It can linger on days after you have your surgery because it takes longer for old livers and kidneys to clear it out of your system.

I told my husband the same thing. If he felt like laying down, for goodness sake, listen to his body and lay down!

Thanks, Granny. You have so much on you right now. I'll just be glad when DH has that abscess drained and the drain put in. I just found out that the hospital has a place on campus that you can stay if you have a loved one in the hospital or the loved one is on chemo and needs to be in the area for weeks on end. So I called them. It's called the Tree House and only costs 40$ a night. My jaw dropped and it's right on the hospital campus so I made a reservation for us for Monday night. There was just no way that we were going to be able to get up and get on the road at 3 AM to be there before 7:30. I had the nicest chat with the lady on duty there tonight. She said it was what the Tree House was designed to do and we were very welcomed to stay Monday night. That's one worry off our shoulders.

@Rambling Iris your poor DH sounds miserable. I hate that stage of being sick with an upper respiratory misery and you need to cough that gunk loose yet it feels like you are ripping a lung out every time you try. Give him my best.

@Granny Hatchet, do you think that the chest pain could be due to stress? If my logic is on line here, you had an EKG before you had your surgery and that EKG had to be fairly normal before they would put you under anesthesia. So the only two possibilities that come to mind are stress or really really really bad indigestion. Neither one is a load of fun and can cause chest discomfort. Lord knows you have been under a lot os stress lately also so maybe.....I know it's scary when it happens and makes you feel less than wonderful but might be something to consider. Might be something to discuss with one of your docs at some point.

As for the peaches, we have a few for eating. I'm just glad that I could give them to somebody who was willing to pick them for me. Just too much going on and every night there are deer out in the front yard checking out the 7 heirloom peach trees we have and the Alberta along with an apple tree we have there also. The Alberta tree has never had a harvest this good before and I was wanting to make some jam but maybe next year or the year after. The Heirlooms aren't ripe yet. They are apricot sized, sweet as sugar and mke great jam also. I told the kids they could have them when they get ripe along with some of the apples.....if I can keep the deer out of them. Same for the apple trees. They have 2-3 weeks before they start to ripen. I've picked them in the middle of Sept before so the longer they hang, the sweeter they are.
It’s getting better thanks!!!!

Morning all, I slept til 8am today but woke up w/ pain in my back. LOL and the incision area . I assume the back pain is from sleeping in the chair and a much better thing to wake up to. The person that spoke so mean to me called today wanting to buy some house shoes. I told her Toms size or what I think it might be but didn't give her mine. Instead I told her she made me cry with her words. She knew exactly what I was talking about and said her DH said something to her already and she didn't mean to make me cry and that she felt bad about it.

While this is essentially correct any true Southener will tell you grits is a staple at the dinner table. Cook it long and slow to make it less gritty. Serve with pork or tomato gravy, sausage, eggs or just plain butter it will make your tongue come out ant slap your nose!

Afternoon All!

My mother grew up in the south so we grew up eating grits. Yummo! She and my father settled in central Il but I though everyone knew what grits were. We were traveling through Georgia once and stopped at a little roadside restaurant who advertised they served a "southern buffet". Sure enough, fried chicken, grits, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, corn bread, all the good stuff. I was scooping up grits and learned that DH had never tasted them before. He tried them-said they reminded him of mashed potatoes. No way! Grits are WAY better.

I’m hungry too lol maybe a grilled cheese.
Sounds good. With some tomato soup to dip them in til I realize I would need to make about 6 of them at least! Maybe Robert will help.
