Granny's gone and done it again

  • Jaw opening/closing with tongue on roof of mouth - Close your mouth. Put your tongue on the top of your mouth by your front teeth. Now slide your tongue along the roof of your mouth as far back as you can. Open your mouth while keeping your tongue on the roof of the mouth.
  • Chin tucks - Stand up straight. Tuck your chin in and lengthen the back of your neck. Return to the starting position and repeat. It may help to stand up against a wall during this exercise. Try gently pushing your chin with two fingers while trying to flatten your neck against the wall. If you do this exercise lying down, try using a small rolled up washcloth under your neck. Push down into the washcloth when tucking in your chin.
  • Resisted jaw opening and closing – First, put your thumb under your jaw. Slowly open your mouth while you give some pressure with your thumb to make it harder. Hold your mouth open for 5 seconds. Repeat. Next, open your mouth. Grab the part of your chin that juts out with your index finger and thumb. Slowly close your mouth while you give pressure with your finger to make it harder. Repeat.
  • Side to side and forward jaw movements - Place a quarter of an inch object such as a pen, tongue depressor, or a dental cotton roll in between your teeth. Slowly move your jaw from side to side. Repeat 10 times. Next, slowly move your bottom jaw forward. Repeat 10 times. You may also want to hold this exercise for 20 to 30 seconds for a few of the repetitions in order to stretch the muscles. Each day gradually increase the height of the object or objects.
These are two images of an a woman standing up straight. Her head is straight in the first image and her chin is tucked in the second image.

This is an image of a man doing an exercise where he opens and closes his mouth with the tip of his tongue on the roof of his mouth. The words say to put your tongue as far back as you can on the roof of your mouth. Then, open and close your mouth while you keep your tongue on the roof of your mouth.

This is an image of a man giving resistance as he opens his mouth, by pressing up with his tumb under his chin. The words say to press up with your thumb as you open your mouth.

This is an image of a man giving resitance as he closes his mouth by pressing down on his chin with his finger. The words say to press with your finger to make it harder to close your mouth.

These are two images of a man with the end of a pen held between his front teeth. He is also using his hand to balance the other end of the pen. In the first image, he moves his lower jaw to the right and in the second image he moves his lower jaw to the left. The words say to gently hold the pen between your teeth as you move your jaw side to side.

This is an image of a man moving his lower jaw forward as he holds the end of a pen between his front teeth. He is also using his left hand to balance the other end of the pen. The words say to gently hold the pen between your teeth as you move your lower jaw forward.

These are for pain where? In the jaw?

hmm what?
I'm just baffled she doesn't seem concerned that you're still oozing pus from infection. You've been on an antibiotic for over a week? Maybe she's waiting for you to finish the course, the 10 days or whatever the Rx is written for. I guess I'm just kind of speechless that she doesn't want to try another abx or something but then I am not a dr. 🤷🏽‍♀️
