Granny's gone and done it again

How easy?? lol
2 sticks of butter Soft (1/2#); 1 2/3 cups sugar; 5 large eggs; 2 cups sifted flour; 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cream together butter and sugar; add eggs 1 at a time mixing well after each addition; add flour and vanilla; stir until combined. batter will be thick. bake 1 hour in a tube pan or 1 1/2 hours in a loaf pan. Test to be sure its done a tooth pick or cake tester should come out clean. It always takes longer in my oven. This cake is very dense but delicious. I like to make a lemon glaze instead of icing for it. It's also good with strawberries or blueberries on it. I've never tried it with chocolate chips but I bet it would be good.

Thanks
I'm good. Got plate renewal stickers for my car and DH's. Two years for mine this time, one for his. It was real crowded when I got there but about 8 people left (it was nearly lunch time) so I got in fairly quickly.

That was off the top of my head, guess I should look it up. Salt too, probably.

That's amazing!

SEE! What did we tell you? You spent three days sweating over it and it turned out to be a "nothing-burger!"
True! LOL

what is (1/2#) and are we talking self rising flour? spoon or mixer?

That is one half pound of butter (2 sticks or 1 cup) very soft. Plain all purpose flour. I cream the butter and sugar with the mixer and mix the other ingredients in with the electric mixer. There is no salt or baking powder in this recipe. This recipe was given to me by my mothers sister in 1964 it was given to her by a friend from church. I think it was a family recipe.

ust about 2.5" of heavy rain fell in the Bismarck/Mandan area. Many areas have therefore seen flooding.
