Yes, my Richard had it for lengthy times down. He could be doing catheterization, but prefers briefs.My dad periodically had an indwelling catheter for BPH obstruction. In my experience, any time a male has an indwelling catheter any length of time or even permanently, it's from BPH obstruction or yes from cancer. I had a male patient with a continuous catheter that I had to change monthly. Sometimes, to put it bluntly, it's the only way they can pee.
I've never seen one used for incontinence. That is just plain dangerous. They make too many good sanitary products for that now and to use one for that is just inviting infection and or urinary tract sepsis which can kill a person real fast if not treated fast enough. I have to honestly say I've never heard of a catheter used for incontinence.
I put her down. Cried my way through it. I have to remind myself that we are their guardians here on earth and it is our duty to release them when there is no cure nor quality of life.
