I had one here. Not sure where it is right now. I always walk behind him hanging onto a hip or 2.Pain meds with people with dementia=fall risk big time. Glad you were nearby. Did anybody by chance leave you a gait belt? Its a thick woven belt about 2 inches wide that you can cinch around a person's waist and use it to catch/steady them when their gait is unsteady or they are heck bent on falling. If they haven't, ask his PT people the next time they come around if they can leave you one. Trust me, it will make a big difference and help for you.
Heres what happened. This AM he said he needed to potty then told me he didn't and there was nothing in the bowl. I should of checked his butt. Aid went to help him get cleaned up and surprise, the squirts. It was in his bed and the chair. She cleaned him and I cleaned the chair and bed. She got him dressed and when he stood back up she had NOT got him clean. That happened 2 more times with only me and my back was killing me. He was complaining of pain so knowing his PP will stop you up I gave him one not thinking it had been a long time since he had one and it was probably too strong now. So ya, that was a my bad. Also they expired a couple months ago so I figured they wouldn't be as strong.
