GM GrannyH, Im so sorry your morning started out so stressful, I am no DR, but have experienced both of my parents ageing and living with health issues in their latter years, could "Tom" have eaten something that didnt agree with his metabolism, maybe self medicated without your knowledge, or maybe had a change in his medication routine or medication? my parents had adverse reactions to any of these scenarios. Stubborn of him refusing to go to the hospital. praying for you and Tom, I apologize for my unsolicited input, however, your story, pulled on my heart strings, I know the stress and the anxiety these things can cause, chin up GrannyH. maybe you should look into getting a different home health nurse.Morning all, Bad start to the day. I slept from 2-5 so 3 hrs. I was worried about Tom. He wasn't acting right. He claimed PT did something to his hand because he cant open or close it. But before he went to bed he started drooling and slurring? his words. He also had weakness in his leg. I woke him at 6:30 and did all the normal things with him. He still had all those symptoms of last night and I offered to go get his transport chair. He refused it and started walking. He made it to his chair but it wasn't easy and just as he got there he fell to the floor. He didn't go down hard because I had a good grip on him the entire time but he did skin a small area below his knee cap. Robert couldn't pick him up alone this time and hurt his arm in the process but together we got him in his chair.
Now, I know what this sounds like to me but wondered what y'all had to say about it? Please remember he is refusing the hospital.

I said No, Im not refusing help, he is. She called back and said OT was on her way and she could assess him. ( so nurse cant but OT can?) She ended up calling here 4xs. Anyway OT came and said she noticed he was weaker than before and all his vitals were ok so she wondered if he might of had a mini stroke. That head nurse also called Toms primary. They called me I told them the symptoms had passed and she said oh, Then you can take him or not but if he had them again to call 911 and they can check him out even if he does refuse hospital. OT told me of a place she would swap him to. Even wrote their name and # down. Its palliative care? Somewhere between what he has now and hospice.Best fresh baked bread kit from Winn Dixie out hereIts kinda long story. Give me a few.
I agree w/ a new place. Thank you![]()

Granny, I agree with BBH53. It sounds like a stroke. Follow her FACE protocol and call 911 so they can do an assessment. That will ease your mind and if Tom is not responsive they will take him to the ER for treatment. Praying for you and Tom.So I called the home health nurse and she flipped out. Said she . Even if he refuses they will document that couldn't send a nurse because there was nothing they could do and I needed to call the wagon. I told her Tom refuses that. She said then you call. I asked why and that he would just refuse them. She said then she would call.I told her to do whatever she wants! She said so let me get this this straight, You are refusing help.I said No, Im not refusing help, he is. She called back and said OT was on her way and she could assess him.
