Hi everyone. Busy Thanksgiving week to all you kitchen slaves out there. We don't do a traditional Thanksgiving meal here. Usually it's our 'favorite' fancy meal. Mine is Cornish Game Hen, roasted and DH's this year is roast ribs. Suddenly decided that after 72 years on this earth I'm not a big roast turkey fan and DH never has been. All the sides are traditional and instead of pumpkin pie I make pumpkin custard.
The only fly in the holiday ointment here is that I guess there is a big snow storm heading our way over the weekend. Only 3 inches or so they say which means we will either get 0 or 9 inches.
@ShrekDawg I'm glad you are feeling better and that your treatment is going smooth. I know you will stick with it. We miss you when you aren't around here!
@Granny Hatchet Sorry to hear about the heart burn. Do you take an OTC like Prilosec? If not, might want to ask your doctor about it. With all you have been through I'm surprised your stomach hasn't bothered you before now. And don't worry about eating slow. I eat about twice as slow as I used to. If the prospect bothers you through how about carry out and eat at home? I did that one year after my mother died. The house she left me was too big and I wanted to downsize. Bought a smaller home right before the holiday. Luckily the churches youth group was having a Turkey dinner fund raiser. Bought two meals carry out, put them in the freezer pie and all and enjoyed them at Thanksgiving.
@Rambling Iris, Glad to hear that the hen is going to pull through. Closest chicken vets here are at MIZZOU vet college/hospital and they charge like your favorite laying hen has a pedigree as long as your arm and lays golden eggs. One of mine gets sick, I sigh, look at it and say 'you gonna die'. I proceed to throw every treatment at it I can find on BYC and on line and yep, sure enough, she dies anyway. So I'm glad you have somebody nearby that helped you out. Sounds like the poor little thing was in a world of hurt.
If I'm not on tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I know many of us have had rough years health wise or have suffered the loss of loved ones but I hope everyone can take a moment and say thanks for the strength God has given us to withstand what life has thrown at us and pray that 2026 is kinder to all.
