Granny's gone and done it again

I have always wondered about Frosty. She was about 2 when I got her and not in good shape. She will not come when called and she knows her name. She will go to a corner and shiver. When it comes to flea meds or giving her a treat, it doesn't matter

That's interesting. It makes you wonder if she was abused

The woman I got her from acted like she really loved her but she had double ear infections and the hair on her paws was gone. She was also in heat. Vet treated her and said she was not pregnant but wait til she finished her heat to get her spayed which I did. I took her to a income based place for it and I was told if she was pregnant they do the spay anyway and I wasn't worried . Come to find out when I picked her up she was pregnant. That hurt but it would of been by her brother so I guess it was a good thing. Not a decision I would of made on my own. She ran away 2 days later. Took 3 days and lots of calls and posts including radio stations but I got her back

That is so sad. She definitely wasn't properly cared for. I can understand your emotions when you found out she was pregnant. I'm glad you got her back. She just didn't know you were giving her a good home

Jenny was that way, a bit, when we got her. She'd hang her head and look fearful, wouldn't look at you, and she woulcn't come either. I really wanted to change her name but couldn't come up with anything better so I just made sure whenever I said it I used a soft, loving tone and handled her very lovingly so she would have good associations with it. She's a lot better now. She's come such a long way! She comes to me almost all the time, and to other family members sometimes. She doesn't bark at Melissa any more. I think she looks like her former owner.

I've had dogs that I had to change their names. A sweet little Cocker Spaniel was so traumatized under his previous name of Freckles that he gladly became Dusty.
