Granny's gone and done it again

That's how it used to be for me. Not sure what's going on. Lost without trying. Now I have to..eat a lot to keep me where I'm at. Noticed though the other day, I'm down 2 lbs again. I have to remember to keep weighing myself to watch it.
I'm in the same boat, Cynthia. I got an ultimatum from my doc. Lose weight, eat healthier or go on medication for my cholesterol. I'd tried the meds. They all gave me side effects that had me flat out on the sofa most of the day so that was my motivation. Started at around 145 pounds I'm at 118 now. My food needs have completely changed. Small amounts of food satisfy me. Dinner is usually meat, fish and a veggie side and I'm full. If I'm not careful my weight will slip lower. Right now I shoot to stay between 115 and 120 but by some scales I'm underweight by others, just fine. My cholesterol numbers are greatly improved but this past year with the stress of my and my husband's surgeries I really struggled to keep my weight up now. Sometimes if I need a boost I'll bake cookies like I did over the weekend and enjoy them without guilt. I can always add a pound or two that way.

I blame my age on it.

Oh you mean breeding indiscriminately? Yeah Granny has it right, they do it for money. They don't care about the animals, sadly.
Blue, then there is another group of people called hoarders. They have way to many animals than they can afford or take care of. They also may breed. Then there are so called rescues who do 5he same. They don’t believe in euthanizing any animal for any reason, keep them in small cages, and they get the bare minimum of care.

Very sad but we also have humans that live on the street, that live in conditions that I wouldn’t let my dog live in. I wish I knew the answer for that one. I have gone with the rescue to help thee animals that live with the homeless here. They pass out food and flea meds. Very nice people most of them but a few bad apples prey on these vulnerable folks.

We rescued our Lhasa Apso from a friend of my sister. She had bought Daisy as a gift for her 16 year old daughter. The 4 year old son abused Daisy to the point of rupturing her spleen. The Mom called me from the vets office to see if I wanted her when she was released. Of course I did! The Mom brought 8 month old Daisy, her papers, bed and food to me. She told the son the dog was dead. Daisy was terrified of green flooring even grass. I found out their kitchen floor was green and every time Daisy went in there she was either kicked or yelled at. We had Daisy for 13 years and have not had a dog since she died.

This is why I won’t sell a puppy to a family with kids under 8. My pups will bite back with that kind of abuse.

I just went out to check for eggs. It's a bright, sunny day but cold, 16°! My SS, Merida was actually out of the hen house and came out to greet me, sweet thing. She's the first to come out in three days. DH spent yesterday shoveling a path for me, that dear man. He'd go out for a while then come in to warm up for a bit. Here's what he did.

And here's Merida, at my feet. "Why did you make it cold, Ma?"

I sprinkled some scratch and goodies on the ground and packed snow for them, so they began to come out. They need the sunshine, fresh air and exercise!

What a sweet man.
