Granny's gone and done it again

What about swelling. . They said ice but it is too cold to apply ice. The swelling isn’t getting better. I can call them on Monday.
Okay, so no ice. How about cold water? Our water from the tap here gets pretty cold this time of the year. I know yours probably doesn't but maybe some iced down water so it isn't 'icy' but cold so you can hold your hand in it to the count of maybe 10. Make compresses out of that and gently apply to your neck/face. If it feels too cold then let it warm up a bit and try again.

Hopefully even just coldish water would help bring some of the swelling down. Especially if you had a thick towel between it and your skin. The cold water circulator they sent home with me after my shoulder surgery you could make real cold or mildly cold by how much ice or frozen water bottles you put in the canister. It had a towel between it and the dressing on my shoulder which was about an inch and a half thick. After they pulled the sutures I had a towel between the pad and my shoulder. It never got colder than I could tolerate.

I can see their concern about freezing or frost biting your skin on your neck or face. It's very thin there but even a cold water bottle out of the fridge might give you some relief.

That way you wouldn't be dealing with ice but with cold water. Personally, I'd try it and see how it felt. Make sure to wrap it in a wash cloth or soft cloth and not apply it for more than say 10 minutes out of every hour.

@microchick I learned something new from the ER colorectal surgeon on call today. I called to see if DH should be seen on emergency for his swollen stoma. He said put table sugar on it for 20 minutes. It draws out the water for edema. He said they do that for prolapsed stomas in the ER

Sabbath Shalom, Blue my friend. :hugs Have a great sabbath and see you tomorrow after sunset. Enjoy the nice weather we are having. We are.
Thank you, we did! Although DH went to church wighout me - again. I see my ortho Monday so hopefully I find out something good. I think I'm just using this leg more than I should, and fatigueing it.

I'm allergic to musk and some of the propellants in spray perfume so I quit wearing it many eons ago. I have to be careful walking down the detergent isle at the grocery store, the strong smells will set me off.
Same! Melissa wants to smell nice but I have to remind her to use oils or lotions, NOT sprays and PLEASE, not candles! :thShe's going to put me in the hospital or the morgue, lol.
Gain soap may smell good but it will cause me to have an asthma attack every time!
Have a blessed Sabbath. see you tomorrow night.
Thanks!
Same here Iris, even bar soap. I have found I can use febreeze air with the pump, not the aerosol
DH used to use ... IRISH SPRING, gag! That stuff should be outlawed IMO! I bought him 24 bars of Safeguard. MUCH better! I can use a little Febreze too. In the bathroom. As I'm walking out, lol.

I don’t fear death because I know the afterlife will be heavenly. I actually am looking forward to it.
Death itself holds no fear for me either, I know what comes next and where I'm going. I just don't want to be hunched over in a wheelchair, in a diaper drooling for years before that blessed release.

Valentine's Day is special for DH and me. We were married on Aug. 14, 2010. Valentine's is 6 months later. So we always celebrate it as our "Half-a-versary!" We wouldn't have gone out today because it's Sabbath, and I'm thinking my knee is going to keep me home tomorrow as well. We have a new IHOP in town and it would have been cool to eat there. So we may have to skip this year, but it's still our special day. 15 1/2 years together already! And it feels like just a few days! :love
