I've checked my girl for mites, etc. and she doesn't have any of those issues. Will pasty butt make them pluck their hind feathers? I've been noticing since yesterday that they're getting rather thin back there... but she's always had dirty hind feathers.

Pasty butt is something in very young chicks, under 2 weeks or so. If they are older and have poop stuck, there is something else going on, although really fluffy types, like Cochins, will sometimes get bits stuck and dried on. Chickens don't have a lot of feathers around the vent, for hygienic reasons of course. It's one of the easiest places to check on the health of the shin. Vent and armpits (wingpits?) normally have some bare skin showing.

I bet.
Hey Granny have you tried some warm water with lemon and cayenne pepper and honey?
Try drinking some for two days each morning.....see if it helps your stomach.

isnt that odd Banti ?  maybe I should start collecting road kill. LOL   there seems to be enough of it around here.
Me and my friend went camping in the mountains years ago. We saw a bear dead on the side of the road. We put it in the back seat of his car because I thought I'd skin it and make a rug. When we got back to the campsite we pulled the bear out. After a few minutes a guy comes up and tells us it's against the law to pick up a bear. So we take it back to where we found it. Before we could sit it down a guy in a truck stops and ask if he could have it lol.

They get plenty of free fed calcium Granny, thanks to y'all here and my extensive reading. I read BYC for three months before I started posting. lol. Then I kinda just got stuck here. I hope y'all don't mind.
