Something like that. The guy who bred my rooster , rotates his rooster through two different pens a week. Some days the rooster is in a large dog crate.

well, they are good to go after mating for 2 weeks right ? I figure 2-3 days in the cage for each hen should do it. Or something like that. til winter anyway then I will have to do something else with him. I know one thing, He dont take no for an answer.

Yes I think the sperm lives in the females for a couple of weeks. I wonder if you could let the females out to lay without him getting out.
