Bloat or any weird cow type things? Are they ruminants like cows?Yaks are not supposed to need any assistance in calving. Calf size it 25 to 30 lbs. Out of a 500 plus pound cow. So the calves are very small.

How much does one Yak cost?

How much does your vet charge to pull a yak calf?
Me too. I've never had medical ins on the dogs or horses. All my years, it's bitten me once. This year, colic surgery. Had I insured my horses all along, I could have paid for several surgeries. I personally think I came out ahead with no ins.We have a few ponies that we paid good money for, but we don't insure them for anything. Thought about getting medical insurance, but decided not to.

My vets would probably charge about $300

yes they are related to cattle , buffalo and can cross breed with both. Rod one of the renters has worked with cattle. From everything I can find on the internet they are relatively health issue free.

IMO for an extra $20 a month, Id try it for a year or 2. This is a new venture and they were expensive.Bull like porter from 4,000 and up cows about 2500 and up. depends on breeding, coloration, age
