Papa, My redbud is as big around as my pinky finger and has been planted for 10 yrs.   Was around 3ft. when I planted it and might be 5 ft. now.

I would guess that tree was there way before your mom was.

I was going to say redbud but I'd never seen it like that on the trunk! We have a small one on the corner of the house that's blooming right now.
