Yep, going on 10 years ago this coming July. I was born with a deformed brain stem. It hung outside of my skull being pinched between the skull & spine. I suffered migraine headaches all my life. In my early 40's the headaches became even more severe with numbness in my extremities, dizzy spells, extreme nausea & memory loss. The doctors finally figured it out after many years. The surgeon went in at the base of my spine. Taking out the C-1 vertbrea to create a new pocket that would house & protect my brainstem. Capping off the spinal cord so spinal fluid could no back up into the spine. He went into my upper thigh & removed material to create the new pocket & covering for my brain stem. I have about a 5 inch scar up my thigh & about a 4 inch scar up my neck & the bottom of my skull.

There's a name for that... My niece has a slight case of that
Chiari I malformation. Yes there are different severities of the condition. My sister & myself had to have surgery, but my sisters daughter has a mild form of it. Hers isn't being compressed. Had it not been for my sister just waking up one morning & couldn't get out of bed without huge waves of dizziness & vomiting I doubt they ever would have found mine. My family doctor had me wrote off as a headcase. My sisters chiropractor ordered the special MRI that was needed to see the condition. Her family doctor had wrote her off as a headcase too. She was diagnosed with vertigo & told to go see a therapist.
